The Yankton School District (YSD) and Yankton Police Department (YPD) are aware of reports involving scam phone calls falsely claiming that a child is missing or kidnapped. These calls have caused significant distress among families in our community.
We want to assure parents, students, and staff that there is no credible evidence or reports of missing or kidnapped children in our district. These calls are part of a larger scam aimed at causing panic or extracting personal information or money from unsuspecting individuals.
What You Need to Know:
The callers often use fear-based tactics, claiming to have taken a child or that a child is in danger.

If you receive a suspicious call, do not panic.
Verify the Claim:
Contact your child’s school directly or call the Yankton Police Department for assistance.
Do Not Share Information:
