After assessing the roads and finding lots of drifting on the roads in the rural areas, the late start for Yankton School District has been cancelled. Yankton School District will not have school today, Friday, December 16. Stay safe.
Yankton School District will have a two hour late start on Friday, December 16 to allow time in the daylight to assess road and weather conditions. There will be no morning preschool at Webster School and no morning Special Education Preschool at Stewart. All buses will run approximately two hours later than their normally scheduled time. The final day of classes for students in all grades prior to Christmas Vacation will be on Wednesday, December 21 and will be an early dismissal at 2:00 pm.
JrK-12th grade will be dismissed at 2:00 pm and buses will run accordingly. There will be no PM Preschool classes at Webster School or PM Early Intervention Preschool at Stewart School. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
Due to the high winds forecasted, varying amounts of snow predicted and the uncertainty of timing for both high winds and snow, we are cancelling school in the Yankton School District for Thursday. The safety of our students is more important to me than an attempt at school and possibly being caught in the middle of dangerous weather and hazardous visibility. If the worst-case forecasted scenario does or does not materialize during the day, our children are at home safe either way. There will be a better sunny day in May!
