
These seven talented young musicians represented Yankton Middle School in South Dakota Middle School All-State Band this past weekend. Congratulations on this great accomplishment, Salena, Angela, Kinley, Jazlin, Isabel, Francisco, and Dustin!


The Buck’s season came to an end tonight, but not without a fight. The Bucks held #1 SF Lincoln to their lowest point total of the season, but fell to the Patriots 48-26. Thank you to all of our fans for your support throughout the season, and until next season…GO BUCKS!!!

YHS Bring Change to Mind (mental health awareness and advocacy club) beat the storm and celebrated National BC2M Week with a walk across the Meridian Bridge. Our Club will be responsible for helping to stock, monitor, and sustain the three new mental health boxes on the bridge.


GAZELLES GOLF SIGN UP: Girls in grades 7-12 interested in participating in golf this spring, there will be a signup in Coach Sime's room (235) at YHS after school on Tues, March 11. Unable to attend, please contact Coach Sime or Coach Heiter. Practice starts Monday, March 31.

Last night we celebrated the hard work and achievements of our Gazelle Gymnasts. What an amazing honor to have 2 former Gazelles, Billie (Shorma) Vest and Megan (Shorma) Arnold in our presence. Thank you to everyone that made this magical night a success.

We are all set to celebrate our 2024-2025 Gymnastics season tonight!

The Bucks played one of their best games of the season yesterday by defeating Douglas 71-34. The win puts the Bucks into the SoDak16 and they will now travel to SF Lincoln to take on the #1 ranked Patriots next Saturday. Game time TBD.

Mrs. Ladwig's nonfiction class welcomed their last two visitors today (2/28): Marine Infantry veteran Brooks Hegge and Navy veteran Craig Powell. It was awesome to hear about all their adventures! Thank you for sharing your personal experiences and achievements!





Mr. Streyle was our guest speaker in Mrs. Mattes' English 1 class. Mr. Streyle lived in Alaska for 21 years, and he had many interesting experiences to share with us. Thank you, Mr. Streyle!



Mrs. Mattes' English 1 class is studying about Alaska and the Iditarod Race while reading The Call of the Wild. Here, the students are making miniature sleds.

Mrs. Ladwig's nonfiction class welcomed Army infantry combat veteran Bryce Ladwig to their class on Thursday (2/27). He shared details about his career and journey through Afghanistan and Iraq. Thank you for sharing your personal experiences and achievements!






Mrs. Ladwig's nonfiction class welcomed local attorney/writer/podcaster Dave Hosmer to their class on Wednesday (2/26) to discuss his experiences interviewing veterans from the greater Yankton area and beyond. Students learned more stories today in one sitting than ever before.



Mrs. Ladwig's nonfiction class welcomed SFC Aaron Crisman to their class on Tuesday (2/25) to discuss his impressive career in the ARNG. Students are embarking on a unit about war. Students will be able to compare speeches to memoirs. Thank you so much, SFC Crisman!

Yankton Educators Rising Chapter earns Gold as an Outstanding Chapter at the state competition. Congratulations to Jay Myers for earning Gold and being a national qualifier and Noelle Nockels & Kiyah Sherman for earning Bronze in their respective categories.
