It was a big day in first grade! Mrs. Larsen’s class enjoyed their pumpkins from the Bucks football team and their new “Porter the Hoarder” books.
Mrs. Wagner's Kindergarten students are learning about spiders! Be Nice to Spiders! And a big shout out to the Yankton Bucks for giving each spider a pumpkin! BUCKS ROCK!!
Lincoln first graders honored Native American Day with different projects based on local tribal culture. We created dreamcatchers, knots on a counting rope, and used tribal symbols to tell a story on a teepee.
Flashlight Friday is all about enjoying reading in Mrs. Davison's third grade class.
Mrs. Valnes, our Curriculum Director, is helping out in Kindergarten! We are sponge painting fall trees to make a Shape Forest! We had a great time!
We made some silly jack-o-lanterns in kindergarten! These will look great in our "pumpkin patch" in the hallway.
Kindergarten has been busy learning about texture, paper tearing, step by step directions and listening. We traced our hands and practiced our cutting skills. Kindergarten is a hoot!
Practicing subtraction skills with a game is a great way to improve!
Kindergarten is busy learning about apples and pumpkins, learning sight words, writing in our daily journals, and sorting! I am very proud of these children. They stay on task, follow the school rules and make learning fun and meaningful!

Kindergarten Book Boxes are so "cool"! Our students made their own Book Boxes to keep their easy readers in! The books we make stay safe and are easy to find when we want to read! Reading Rocks! And so does Kindergarten!
We have been enjoying center time this week in kindergarten! We are practicing important skills like letter formation, reading and writing color words, and drawing and coloring using details.
All Yankton Public School students, including JrK-12th grade will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, for the Yankton High School Pioneer Days Homecoming Parade. There is no afternoon Preschool at Webster School or Early Childhood Preschool at Stewart School that day.
Bus students who ride Yankton School District buses will load the buses at 1:50 at their respective buildings. They will make the exchange at YMS and will leave YMS at approximately 2:15. Parents of elementary students may pick up their bus students at school at 2:00 p.m. if they are not riding the bus that day and have notified the school in advance.
Parents of JrK students at Webster should pick them up at school at 1:45 p.m., as they will be dismissed earlier due to traffic. Parents of in-town students should pick them up at school at 2:00 p.m. All elementary students should return the parade notice to their teacher, so plans are known for the early dismissal.
The parade will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Mulberry and 2nd Street, proceed west on 2nd Street to Cedar Street, North on Cedar Street to 3rd Street and East on 3rd Street to Burleigh Street. If inclement weather occurs, the parade will be cancelled but school will still be dismissed at 2:00 pm.
Mrs. Larsen’s first graders earned an extra recess. Way to go!
